Apicoectomy (Endodontic Surgery)

What is an apicoectomy ?

An apicoectomy surgery also called endodontic surgery is a type of surgery reserved to try and save a tooth that has become problematic despite a root canal. Occasionally root canal treatments will fail and, pain and infection can recur. These teeth can sometimes be saved by performing an apicoectomy; the root tip, or apex, is removed along with the infected tissue. A filling is then placed to seal the end of the root. The length of the surgery is between 30 and 90 minutes. It will depend on the location of the tooth and the complexity of the root structure. Our surgeons use the most up to date technologies and materials to treat these teeth.
