Oral surgery is specifically defined by The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as the diagnosis, surgical and related treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the head, mouth, teeth, gums, jaws, and neck.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Oral surgeons are specifically trained to work with the mouth, teeth and jaws. <\/span>They are trained to treat patients with problems of all types including both cosmetic and functional, as well as hard and soft tissue issues. <\/span>This means that oral surgeon training requires a strong foundation in dentistry as well as surgical procedures on the area of \u200b\u200bthe mouth, face and neck.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
